Purpose
The Weaving programme, based on the techniques of traditional weaving and the particular decorative characteristics of each region in Greece, aims to create innovation channels for the development and promotion of competitive and modern products that will help in the revival and development of this art in Greece.
The main objective of the training programme is to equip the trainees with productive skills and high-level knowledge regarding weaving, which will help them take advantage of direct employment opportunities in the handicrafts sector and/or to start their own business either as self-employed or as entrepreneurs or as teachers of the art of weaving.
RESULTS
After the completion of the programme the trainees will be able to:
- Select and procure themselves the raw and auxiliary materials.
- Prepare (warp) their loom to create the weft they have designed.
- Select the type and design of the fabric to be made.
- Use traditional designs and patterns to create innovative products.
- Price the products they create correctly.
- Deliver or sell items to the customer.
- Develop the basic principles required to run a business involving weaving.
- Be involved in marketing the products they create.
- Apply the principles of the circular economy.
Successful completion of the training program leads to:
- Τhe receipt of a Certificate of Specialized Training from the KEDIVIM of the University of West Attica and the possibility of a subsidized application for certification from the ESYD.
- The program provides 120 ECVET and belongs to category 4 or 5 of the National Qualifications Framework.
- The certification offers the professional right to teach the art of weaving.
