Dr. Zoi Sakki has an interdisciplinary academic background, with a Bachelor’s degree in Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art in 2003 (Diploma of the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art, Technological Educational Institute of Athens), a Master’s degree in Museology in 2008 (Diploma of Postgraduate Course of the Department of History – Archaeology and the Department of Geology, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, in collaboration with the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art, Technological Educational Institute of Athens) and a doctoral dissertation in the field of Collection Management in 2018 (PhD from the Faculty of Medicine, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens).
She has been involved in a number of different areas of work related to cultural heritage.
For more than a decade, she has been involved in the conservation and restoration project of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture (e.g. Acropolis of Athens Restoration Service, Archaeological Authority/ Ephorate West Attica, Archaeological Authority/ Ephorate of the City of Athens).
She has been working as a lecturer at Technological Educational Institutes (academic years 2010-2011, 2017-2018) and at the University of Western Attica (academic year 2022-2023), teaching preventive conservation, preservation of cultural heritage, museology, collection management and documentation of collections. In addition, from 2015 until today, she has been working as a teacher in public vocational schools in specialties related to cultural heritage (e.g. museum and archaeological site attendant, technician in the conservation of works of art and antiques). She also works as an external scientific expert and consultant for government institutions involved in the development of post-secondary curriculum guides, vocational curricula and vocational qualification examinations.
For the last few years, she has been working as a freelance conservator in the field of condition assessment and restoration of cultural objects and works of art, collaborating with private galleries, museums and collections. Based on her professional license in conservation (from the Hellenic Ministry of Culture), she specializes in the conservation of ceramics, glass, stone, metal, mosaics and excavated organic materials.
Moreover, she has participated in a number of different research projects related to cultural heritage, carrying out works of project management and implementation. These projects were related to the study, creation, exhibition and maintenance of works of art, teaching-research collections and antiquities, in Greek and foreign universities.
