Ceramics Vocational Training Program

Purpose

The main objective of the project is to preserve, protect and disseminate the traditional art of ceramics and its values to society, and to preserve historical ceramic techniques and their designs so that they can serve both as knowledge of our heritage and as a channel of innovation for today’s creative and cultural industries. This will facilitate the creation of a society of knowledge with a clear cultural basis and will become a source of innovation, competitiveness and promotion of new resources that will also contribute to the development of ceramics.

 

Results

 After the completion of the programme the trainees will have:

  • Acquired knowledge about ceramic creation from antiquity to the present day and its manifestations with special emphasis on Greek folk culture, about the materials and their properties, the techniques of construction and surface shaping and decoration.
  • Acquired skills and abilities in ceramic production and artistic creation using traditional and modern materials and techniques.
  • Formed and developed their personal artistic ‘language’ and expression.
  • Developed the ability to link production to the needs and preferences of the Greek and foreign market.
  • Training in the fields of marketing, costing and entrepreneurship will provide the trainees with the skills to organise their business or workshop, to ensure its good and sustainable operation and to secure the integration of production with the Greek and foreign markets.

 

Successful completion of the training program leads to:

  1. The receipt of a Certificate of Specialized Training from the KEDIVIM of the University of West Attica and the possibility of a subsidized application for certification by the ESYD.
  2. The program provides 120 ECVET and belongs to category 4 or 5 of the National Qualifications Framework.
  3. The certification offers the professional right to teach the art of
