Olga Polychronopoulou is a Emeritus Professor of Archaeology and History of Art at the Dept. of Conservation of Antiquities & Works of Art, University of West Attica (UNIWA), Greece. She completed a Master’s of Advanced Studies in Greek and French Language and Literature at the University of Athens (1977), as well as a Master’s and Degree of in-Depth Studies in Archaeology and History at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France (1981).She continued her studies in Paris and successfully completed her PhD on Bronze Age Greece at the Sorbonne University (1984). After which, she immediately began her academic career, where today she has obtained full professorship at the UNIWA. Over the years, during her sabbaticals, she taught courses at Sorbonne University on Aegean Prehistoric Archaeology, as well as held the position of a visiting research fellow at the CNRS in Paris (1995-1996). From then till today, she continues to be a member of the scientific team on Aegean Prehistory at the CNRS and Sorbonne University in Paris.She has manypublications, and she is author of books and journals related to Aegean Prehistory and the History of Greek Archaeology.
Currently, her main research project is the study of the Gilliéron collection at the French School in Athens, Greece, where she is the scientific coordinator. She has supervised many Ph.D. and Masters Students, and undergraduate dissertations involving research in archaeology and cultural heritage, as well as has organized many international workshops, conferences, and Master courses for archaeology and conservation of cultural heritage.
