Anna Karatzani studied conservation of Antiquities and Works of Art at the Technological Educational Institute of Athens, Greece. She obtained an MA in Conservation of Historic Objects from De Montfort University (UK), in 2001 and in 2007 completed her PhD research in analytical investigation of Byzantine‐Greek metal threads at University College London (UK). She has worked for seven years at the Ministries of Culture and Sport (1997-2004) and Education and Religious Affairs (2007-2011)in the conservation of mural paintings, textiles and book-papers. Since March 2011 she is Assistant Professor in History and Conservation of Textiles at the University of West Attica.

She teaches the undergraduate courses “Textile Conservation”, ‘Conservation of Books and Archival Collections” and “Book and Paper Conservation”. She participates at the MSc “Conservation of Cultural Heritage” of the Department of Conservation of Antiquities and Works of Arts and at two other postgraduate programs: MA in “Museum Studies”, co-organised by the University of Athens and University of West Attica (since 2013) and MSc “Protection, Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Monuments”, Faculty of Engineering, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (since 2014).

She is  member of the Coordinating Committee of the Post Graduate Program “Conservation of Cultural Heritage”.

She has presented her work in international conferences and journals and has participated in a large number of international workshops related to the study- investigation and preservation of textile objects.
